Bittensor (TAO) is a Substrate-based blockchain that hosts machine-learning subnets: miners do the models' work, validators score the results, and the network pays rewards in TAO. A block comes every 12 seconds.

TAO is usually withdrawn from exchanges into a personal wallet to stake it with a validator or in a subnet: stake on Bittensor is tied to the wallet's key, so it is easier to manage from your own address.

A Bittensor address uses the SS58 format with the generic Substrate prefix: it starts with 5 and is 48 letters and digits long. Polkadot ecosystem wallets may show the same key in Polkadot format, as an address starting with 1 — TAO needs the form starting with 5. The address is case-sensitive, so copy it in full.

A Bittensor wallet has two kinds of keys. The coldkey holds the balance; TAO is sent from it and received on it. The hotkey is used by miners and validators to work in subnets. You technically can send TAO to a hotkey, but funds can easily get stuck there: always receive on the coldkey address.

TAO transfers do not use a memo, and exchanges usually give each user a separate address. The minimum account balance (existential deposit) is 500 rao, or 0.0000005 TAO, which is negligible for normal amounts. The transfer fee is paid in TAO.

A wallet cannot send staked TAO. When staked in a subnet, TAO becomes that subnet's alpha token, and to transfer the coins you first need to unstake them back into TAO on the coldkey.

Bittensor also has an EVM layer with 0x addresses. A regular TAO transfer cannot go to a 0x address: every EVM address has a matching SS58 address starting with 5, and TAO for an EVM wallet is received there.

The receiving address must be on the same network you chose in the form. An address from another network won't work — the transfer will fail.

No. Registration, verification and documents are not required — all you need is the wallet address the funds will arrive at.

Available networks: Bittensor. The network is chosen in the exchange form — make sure the recipient address belongs to the same one.

A coldkey address on the Bittensor network: SS58 format, starting with 5, 48 characters. A hotkey address or a 0x EVM address will not work for receiving.

A Bittensor block comes every 12 seconds, and recipients usually wait for a few more blocks: crediting TAO takes from one to several minutes. The rest depends on the selected route.

Any coin in the catalogue — pick it in the "You receive" field. Popular Bittensor directions are listed further down this page.

The coldkey is the wallet's main key: it holds the balance, and TAO is sent and staked from it. The hotkey is used by miners and validators to work in subnets. Send TAO transfers to a coldkey only.

Most likely the coins are staked. Unstake them — in a subnet they are held as alpha tokens — and once the TAO is back on the coldkey balance, you can send it.

Choose the coins, networks and amount. The service compares available offers so you can select a route and enter your receiving address. Review the terms, create the exchange and send funds to the provided address on the specified network. Processing is automatic, and you can track the exchange with its code in the same interface, without registering.

Open support on the site and provide your exchange code. This lets us find the transaction, check its stage and help with a delay, an error or the terms of a possible refund. Keep your code and transfer details. No account is needed to contact us; never send private keys or a seed phrase.
