HTX is the token of the HTX exchange, formerly Huobi, and the governance token of HTX DAO: holders vote on DAO proposals and get perks on the exchange. In 2024 HTX replaced the exchange's previous token, HT, and took over its perks.

HTX is most often swapped to move the token from the exchange to your own Tron wallet, or to get out of it straight into another coin without trading on the exchange.

Here HTX is exchanged on Tron: it is a TRC-20 token, contract TUPM7K8REVzD2UdV4R5fe5M8XbnR2DdoJ6. A Tron address starts with a capital T and is 34 characters long. Letter case matters: the address is Base58-encoded, and swapping a lowercase letter for an uppercase one gives a different, invalid address.

HTX is also issued on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain, where addresses start with 0x. Those are separate tokens: HTX sent on one network will not appear on another, and a 0x address does not work for HTX on Tron. HT is a different token too, the exchange's old one: it does not turn into HTX in your wallet.

A TRC-20 transfer consumes energy and bandwidth on Tron. If there is not enough, the wallet burns TRX to cover it, so without TRX incoming HTX cannot be sent on. Sending to an address that has never held this token takes more energy than a regular transfer.
