Shiba Inu (SHIB) is a meme token on Ethereum, launched in 2020. A set of projects has grown around it: the ShibaSwap exchange, the BONE and LEASH tokens and the layer-2 network Shibarium.
SHIB is often withdrawn from an exchange to a personal wallet and moved between networks on the way: the exchange pays out SHIB on BNB Smart Chain while the recipient's wallet or service expects it on Ethereum — or the other way round.
SHIB on Ethereum is an ERC-20 token at contract 0x95ad61b0a150d79219dcf64e1e6cc01f0b64c4ce. On BNB Smart Chain the Binance-Peg SHIB circulates: Binance issues it, backed 1:1 by SHIB on Ethereum. To a wallet these are two different tokens, and SHIB sent on BNB Smart Chain will not show up in an Ethereum balance.
The recipient address is the same on both networks — 0x and 42 characters — so a mixed-up network cannot be spotted from the address. If SHIB went out on the other network to your own wallet, it sits at the same address on that network: add the network to the wallet and the tokens appear. From an exchange address, only the exchange's support can return such a transfer.
SHIB amounts are huge: they run into millions and billions of tokens. Wallets and exchanges shorten such numbers to "1.5M" or "1.5B", and an extra or missing zero is easy to miss. Check the full amount before sending. The network fee does not depend on the amount: on Ethereum it is paid in ETH, on BNB Smart Chain in BNB, and sending a small amount of SHIB on Ethereum can cost a noticeable share of it.
SHIB also exists on Shibarium, the ecosystem's layer-2 network. It is a separate network: fees there are paid in BONE, and a SHIB withdrawal to Ethereum through the Shibarium bridge waits for a checkpoint and can take several hours. BONE and LEASH are tokens of their own in the ecosystem and should not be confused with SHIB.

Shibarium is a separate layer-2 network with fees paid in BONE. SHIB on Ethereum and on Shibarium are different balances, and a bridge withdrawal to Ethereum can take several hours. Receive SHIB on the network selected in the form.
