Exchange on TON

The native coin of TON is Gram (GRAM). Until 15 June 2026 it was called Toncoin, with the ticker TON, and older guides still use that name. Only the name and ticker changed: balances, addresses and contracts stayed the same, and nothing needs to be swapped or migrated. The network itself is still called TON, and offers to "migrate TON to GRAM" are scams.

A TON address in its usual form is 48 characters of base64. The first letters show a flag: EQ means bounceable, UQ means non-bounceable; both are the same wallet written two ways. Wallets use UQ: if a wallet is new and not yet deployed on chain, a transfer to its bounceable address is returned to the sender minus the fee. There is also the raw form — 0: followed by 64 hex characters, with no checksum. Addresses starting with kQ or 0Q belong to the testnet.

Tokens on TON follow the Jetton standard. A token balance is kept in a separate contract, a jetton wallet owned by your address; the recipient gives you a regular wallet address. A jetton wallet address or the token contract address is the wrong destination. Jetton transfer fees are paid in GRAM: the wallet attaches a little GRAM to the transfer and the excess comes back. Without GRAM in the wallet, tokens cannot be sent. Different jettons can share a ticker: USDT issued by Tether on TON and the bridged jUSDT are separate tokens, so check the contract address.

A comment on the transfer (other networks call it a memo) matters mostly for exchange deposits: many exchanges take all clients' transfers to one address and tell them apart by the comment. A transfer without it has to be traced through the exchange's support. A personal wallet needs no comment.

Since the consensus upgrade of April 2026, TON produces a block roughly every 400 milliseconds, and a transfer becomes final in about a second.
